BACOLOD CITY鈥撯�揂 Cadiz City councilor died of a heart attack Tuesday, which was believed to have been triggered by COVID-19.
Councilor Agustin Jesmar Desuyo, 57, was rushed to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic where he died, said Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante.
The doctors believed Desuyo was suffering from COVID-19 but was unaware of it.
During the Cadiz Sangguniang Panlungsod Zoom session this week, Desuyo鈥檚 colleagues noticed that he was quiet and appeared to be sick.
鈥淗e usually actively participates in the weekly city council meetings,鈥� Escalante said.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) principal Mario Solinap Amaca, 59, died Wednesday afternoon.
Former NOHS assistant principal Llenamar Melchor said Amaca, who was tested positive for COVID-19, was initially confined at the Cadiz District Hospital and was transferred to the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City when his condition worsened.
He was confined at the intensive care unit (ICU) and was later transferred to a regular room but continued to have difficulty breathing, although he had recovered from COVID-19.

鈥淵ou have left us with a brand of leadership that cares so much for its people without putting aside quality service. You have loved us, and we thank you for that,鈥� the statement added.
