10,670 more individuals test positive for coronavirus — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — The number of daily single-day tally of coronavirus cases further dipped to just 10,670 individuals, but still contributed to the country’s active cases to 118,203 as of Friday.

According to DOH, the active cases comprise 4.5 percent of 2,643,494 total COVID cases so far detected in the Philippines. Of the active cases, 91.1 percent are mild and asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, 7,691 more patients have recovered, raising the number of COVID survivors to 2,486,059 which represents 94 percent of the tally. However, another 191 deaths were recorded, taking the death toll to 39,232 or 1.48 percent of the confirmed cases.

Some 16.9 percent of the 58,583 individuals who were tested were found positive on Wednesday for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the disease, according to DOH.

The health agency said only two testing laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System. The non-reporting labs contributed 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.4 percent of positive individuals on average in the last 14 days.

The DOH removed 57 duplicates, including 42 recoveries, from the total case count, and reclassified 128 recoveries as deaths after final validation.
