Palace confirms Dizon’s resignation as BCDA chief

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Tuesday confirmed that Vince Dizon has left his post as the president and chief executive officer of the Bases and Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) as well as his post as the presidential adviser on flagship programs and projects.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Dizon tendered his resignation effective on Oct. 15, but he will remain as the presidential adviser for COVID-19 response.

He will likewise continue his role as the deputy chief implementer of the National Task Force against COVID-19, Roque added.

“Secretary Vince asked the President to unload him of the task so that he can focus full time on the national government’s COVID-19 response efforts and vaccination rollout,” Roque said in a Palace briefing.

BCDA director Aristotle Batuhan was appointed as the officer-in-charge of the BCDA, Roque said.

Malacañang highlighted how under Dizon’s term, the BCDA earned P48 billion in gross revenues and how it remitted the highest amount to the Armed Forces of the Philippines of a total of P34.2 billion.

Under Dizon’s stint, the Clark International Airport new passenger building was likewise built as well as the New Clark City Athletics Stadium.

“The President praised Secretary Dizon and the BCDA team for this accomplishment and Sec. Dizon committed to continue the fight against COVID-19,” he added.

In a separate statement, the BCDA expressed its gratitude to Dizon for his “tireless service and dedicated leadership over the past five years.”
