Engineer shot dead in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY — An engineer was shot and killed by a still unidentified assailant on Tuesday afternoon while he was inside a car accessory store in San Nicolas town, Ilocos Norte, police said.

Investigators identified the victim as Rommel Dizon, a resident of Santa Monica village in the same town.

Citing witnesses, police said the suspect, who was wearing a helmet, entered the establishment at around 4 p.m. and shot the victim multiple times.

The victim was brought to the provincial hospital in nearby Laoag City but was declared dead on arrival, investigators said.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the motive behind the attack, police said.
