Ex-village councilor in Nueva Ecija town gunned down

SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija––Motorcycle-riding assailants gunned down Friday a former three-term village councilman in this town on Friday, police said.

Luisito Reyes, 48, of Barangay Mallorca in this town, was driving an owner-type jeep when the gunmen shot him in Barangay Mabangnan, also in this town, the investigation showed.

Reyes died on the spot and at least 13 empty shells from a .45-caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene.

The victim was busy organizing supporters for a local candidate before he was killed, said his friend George Dizon.

The investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack and identify the assailants, police said.
