Man on the way to vaccination site shot dead in Iligan City

ILIGAN CITY––A man walking towards a vaccination site for his second dose of COVID-19 vaccine was shot dead Friday in this city.

Major Zandrex Panolong, city office police spokesperson, said Verjon Ajero, 39, was walking alone along the national highway in Barangay Tibanga when a lone gunman shot him at 6:40 a.m.

Ajero walked from his home in Sitio Canaway of Barangay Tibanga towards the La Salle Academy vaccination site in Barangay Villa Verde, said his cousin Mai-mai Ajero.

A bullet hit Ajero’s cheek and got through his head, killing him instantly.

Panolong said the gunman, who wore a black and white shirt, escaped on a black Honda XRM motorcycle and put on a black helmet.

Panolong added that police investigators are still determining the motive of the killing.

Ajero, a painter employed in a local hospital, is survived by his wife Rosselle and five children.
