Cops warned vs 鈥榢illable鈥� offenses
MANILA, Philippines — Gen. Dionardo Carlos, chief of the Philippine National Police, warned police officers on Monday against accepting gifts and objects of value from illegal sources.
Carlos also reminded police to follow the PNP’s “no take policy” especially during the holiday season.
The PNP chief said illegal sources include those from illegal drugs, illegal gambling, and other unlawful activities in exchange for special favors.
At a press briefing in Camp Crame in Quezon City, Carlos described accepting gifts from illegal sources as a “killable offense.”
“Definitely if you are getting money from illegal drugs, that is a killable offense,” he said, adding that “kotong” was also a killable offense, citing that some police had been taking advantage of the “hard-earned money of our transport sector.”
He cited that one regional director of the PNP was removed for accepting gifts.
