More personnel sent to Negros to restore power

MANILA, Philippines — Some 20 personnel of Iloilo-City based More Electric and Power Corporation (More Power) have been sent to Negros Island to help restore the electricity in the area, which was devastated by Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai).

More Power President Roel Castro, said that personnel, composed of engineers, line warriors, and customer care staff, have joined Task Force Kapatid of the Department of Energy, National Electrification Administration, and Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc., which was formed to revive the supply of electricity in areas ravaged by typhoon.

“This is indeed the season for helping and spreading the love of Christ,” Castro said in a statement on Friday.

The electricity provider also noted that they have fully restored the power in Iloilo City in less than 24 hours.

The death toll from Typhoon Odette in Negros Island has hit 114, with Negros Oriental reporting 74 deaths and Negros Occidental at 40, according to the provincial government.
