Quezon logs zero COVID-19 case on Christmas Day; Active infections down to 10

LUCENA CITY — For the fifth time this month, health authorities in Quezon province recorded no new COVID-19 cases on Christmas Day.

The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), also reported on Sunday afternoon that the tally for the day listed no recoveries and fatalities.

On December 1, 11, 13, and 15 the IPHO also recorded zero new COVID-19 cases and fatalities.

From December 1-25, the province logged 47 new COVID-19 patients, from 211 in November, 2,115 in October, and 5,342 in September.

The significant decline of COVID-19 cases in the province brought down the latest number of active cases to 10 from the highest single-day tally at 2,570 on September 21.

Six of the 41 local governments in the province no longer have COVID-19 patients.

The data show that the towns of Lopez, Buenavista, Alabat, and Calauag have one active case each while Sariaya and Lucena City with three each.

The COVID-19 death toll in Quezon stood at 1,479, with Lucena recording the most at 223.

Quezon recorded 27,831 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic struck in March last year, with 26,342 recoveries and 1,479 fatalities.

Quezon province and its capital Lucena City were under the less stringent Alert Level 2 until the end of the year.
