MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) logged 43 more deaths related to COVID-19 on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, bringing the country’s death toll to 51,545.
The total deaths represent 1.81% of the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country, which is currently over 2.8 million.
Of the 43 new deaths, DOH said five occurred in December, four in November, seven in October, six in August, two in July, three in June, one November 2020, and one in August 2020.
This is due to the “late encoding of death information” in the DOH’s system, the health department explained.
