MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila could now have a positivity rate of more than 50 percent as its COVID-19 cases continued their uptick, Dr. Guido David, a fellow of independent pandemic monitor OCTA Research tweeted on Saturday.

“The growth in positivity rate has not slowed down yet, and looks like to increase to over 50 percent by January 7,” David said in his Tweet.

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who would test positive among the total number of individuals tested for SARS-CoV 2, the virus which causes COVID-19.
