MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Interior Secretary Eduardo 础帽辞 on Tuesday said he is currently under isolation after he contracted COVID-19 for the third time.
In a statement on Tuesday, 础帽辞 said his reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test yielded a positive result. His close contacts were also confirmed positive of the virus.
鈥淎fter several of my close contacts had tested positive, last night I also received a positive COVID-19 RT-PCR test result,鈥� he said.
鈥淭hankfully, I聽聽remain聽聽asymptomatic as of now. I will continue to work while isolating,鈥� he added.
础帽辞 first tested positive for COVID-19 in March 2020. He got the coronavirus anew in August of the same year.
The interior chief pushed the public to get a COVID-19 vaccine and booster, and to continue complying with health protocols.
鈥淚 encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boostered as soon as possible, and to continue following health protocols,鈥� 础帽辞 urged.
Last week, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. underwent quarantine following an exposure with confirmed COVID patients.
