IATF to place 28 more areas under Alert Level 3 beginning Jan. 14

MANILA, Philippines — Amid the spike in COVID-19 cases, the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases escalated 28 more areas to Alert Level 3 from January 14 to 31, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said on Wednesday.

The following are the areas placed under the heightened alert level:

Luzon

  • Benguet
  • Kalinga
  • Abra
  • La Union
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Pangasinan
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Isabela
  • Quirino
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Tarlac
  • Quezon Province
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Oriental Mindoro
  • Camarines Sur
  • Albay

Visayas

  • Bacolod City
  • Aklan
  • Capiz
  • Antique
  • Cebu City
  • Mandaue City
  • Tacloban City

Mindanao

  • Cagayan de Oro City
  • Davao City
  • Butuan City
  • Agusan del Sur
  • Cotabato City

Under Alert Level 3, intrazonal and interzonal travel are subject to “reasonable restrictions” that may be imposed by local government units, the IATF said.

Individuals aged 18 below and those belonging in the vulnerable population are also permitted access and travel to procure and avail essential goods and services, and for work.

The following establishments and activities are prohibited under the more stringent alert level:

  • Face-to-face classes in basic education
  • Contact sports
  • Fun fairs
  • Karaoke bars, clubs, concert halls, theaters
  • Casinos
  • Horse racing, cockfighting, operation of cockpits, lottery and betting shops and other gaming establishments aside from those that will be allowed by the IATF or the Office of the President
  • Social gatherings where individuals do not belong in the same household

The following activities, on the other hand, will be allowed with 30-percent indoor venue capacity for fully vaccinated individuals and 50-percent outdoor capacity:

  • Cinemas
  • Meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions
  • Social events such wedding parties, engagements, debut, birthday parties
  • Tourist attractions including libraries
  • Amusement parks
  • Recreational venues
  • In-person religious gatherings
  • Licensure exams
  • Dine-in services
  • Personal care services
  • Fitness studios, non-contact sports
  • Film, music, television production

Currently, Alert Level 3 is raised over 19 areas including Metro Manila and its adjacent provinces Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna.
