MANILA, Philippines — The Senate, on its third reading, approved a bill calling for the development of a multispecialty medical hospital in Quezon Province.

Once signed by President Rodrigo Duterte, House Bill 7952 will give way to the construction of the Southern Luzon Multi-Specialty Medical Center in Tayabas, Quezon.

Angelina Tan in a statement, one of the authors of the said bill.

(The construction of the hospital will be of great assistance if it is finally legalized, as many people in Manila will no longer have to wait for treatment and more immediate medical attention can be provided to the sick in Southern Tagalog, which has become the nation’s third largest region in terms of population.)

The hospital will be managed by the Department of Health and will serve as the first hospital for various types of diseases in Southern Tagalog and one of the apex hospitals or end-referral hospitals in the area.

Tan said that apart from the Southern Tagalog region, patients in Bicol and Metro Manila will also benefit from the said measure.
