Phivolcs monitoring restive Kanlaon Volcano
MANILA, Philippines — The (Phivolcs) on Wednesday said it was “closely monitoring” the activities of Kanlaon Volcano in jurisdiction of Bago City the agency recorded 11 “very shallow” earthquakes as of 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
There was no visible degassing activity from the crater of Kanlaon Volcano, but Phivolcs said that localized shallow seismic activity and short-term ground deformation are likely processes that could generate a phreatic or steam-driven explosions. Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 1, which Phivolcs explained to means that it is in “at low-level unrest.”
