DOH logs 3,792 new COVID-19 cases; active infections drop to 84,229

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 cases are now less than 90,000, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Saturday as it added 3,792 new COVID-19 cases to the tally.

According to the DOH bulletin, the country’s active cases now stand at 84,229, which are lower than the 91,147 active infections as of Friday.

The DOH also reported 10,662 more recoveries and 76 more deaths, raising the total number of recoveries to 3,495,209 and fatalities to 54,930.

The country has so far recorded a total of 3,634,368 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Of the current active cases, 94.4 percent are either mild or asymptomatic. A total of 3,016 are asymptomatic, 76,487 are mild, 2,971 are moderate, 1,443 are severe, and 312 are critical.

According to DOH, 32,067 individuals got themselves tested for coronavirus on Thursday, of which 14.3 percent were found positive.

On hospitalization, 36 percent of intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 32 percent of isolation beds, and 29 percent of ward beds nationwide for COVID-19 patients are currently occupied. Meanwhile, 31 percent of ICU beds, 28 percent of isolation beds, and 29 percent of ward beds in Metro Manila are in use.

The DOH said all testing laboratories were operational on Thursday. However, four laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
