PH gets 780K more doses of reformulated Pfizer COVID vaccine for kids

The third batch of 780,000 doses of reformulated Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11 arrived in the country on Wednesday.

MANILA, Philippines — The third batch of 780,000 doses of reformulated Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11 arrived in the country on Wednesday.

The National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 said that Air Hong Kong flight LD456, which carried the anti-COVID shots, landed before 9 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

The vaccine doses were purchased through a loan from the World Bank, the NTF said.

The first and second tranches of the reformulated vaccine doses were delivered on February 4 and 10, respectively.

According to Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, the government is expecting around five to six million reformulated Pfizer vaccines for the whole month of February.

As of February 14, around 148,000 minors aged five to 11 have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Of which, only eight experienced non-serious reactions after immunization.

To date, only Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine has been authorized for vaccination in the said age group.
