PH should remain nonaligned amid Russian invasion on Ukraine 鈥� Ka Leody

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines should avoid signifying any support and remain non-aligned amid the Russian invasion on Ukraine, presidential bet Leody de Guzman said Thursday.
“Iwasan dapat ng administrasyong Duterte ang magpahiwatig ng anumang pagsuporta at manatiling non-aligned. Bagkus, dapat manindigan tayo bilang isang bansa para sa pandaigdigan kapayapaan at pakikipagkapatiran ng mga bansa ng daigdig,” he said in a statement.
(The administration of President Rodrigo Duterte should avoid showing any support and remain non-aligned. Instead, we should stand, as one country, for world peace and solidarity of countries worldwide.)
The labor leader added that the government should focus on rescuing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Ukraine and monitor the potential spike in oil prices.
“Naniniwala ako na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang lahat ng klase ng pananakop at pakikialam sa isang soberanyang bansa ng mga nagbabanggang imperyalistang interes,”said de Guzman.

De Guzman likewise reiterated that he opposed war as only firms creating weapons benefit from it.
“Maraming beses ko nang sinabi na hindi ako pabor sa gera at pangge-gera dahil ang mga korporasyong lumilikha ng armas ang makikinabang habang grabeng pahirap ang dadanasin ng masa,” he said.
