Sara Duterte bats for reopening of economy to bring back jobs

DAPITAN CITY — Vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is batting for a reopening of the economy in order to bring back jobs lost during the pandemic.

Duterte, who was here on Friday accompanied by actor and senatorial aspirant Robin Padilla, said the country’s next leaders “must pull the entire nation to one direction, that is, the direction of continuing development.”

“We will start by opening up our economy and our country so that we can bring back the jobs that we lost to the lockdowns because of the pandemic,” she said.

“Amid the many things that we have to do, we must rise up from the pandemic,” she added.

On Friday, Duterte paid a courtesy call on Zamboanga del Norte Gov. Roberto Uy in nearby Dipolog City and inaugurated two headquarters of her parallel support groups.

She later addressed a gathering of 5,000 supporters here led by the Jalosjos family. She stayed at Dakak Beach Resort for the night and headed to Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur on Saturday.
