DAVAO CITY, Philippines 鈥 Davao City mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio has not been talking about her vice presidential bid with her father, President Rodrigo Duterte.
鈥淧resident Duterte and I have no conversations about my running for vice president,鈥 Duterte-Carpio said, speaking in a mix of Filipino and English, in a press conference on Monday, where she was asked about it.
Last week, in an interview with Secretary Martin Andanar, President Duterte said he had talked to his daughter only once about politics 鈥渕onths ago.鈥听
Based on the president鈥檚 answer, it appeared that the said conversation did not end well.听
鈥淲e do not talk about politics 鈥 except for once. But I don鈥檛 want to discuss it because it was not good. It was between father and daughter. But it was also a conversation about politics,鈥 President Duterte said when asked about her daughter鈥檚 tandem with former Sen. Ferdinand 鈥淏ongbong鈥 Marcos Jr.听
President Duterte鈥檚 faction in the PDP-Laban has adopted Duterte-Carpio as its vice presidential candidate. The faction, however, has not endorsed any presidential candidate yet.听
Initially, the Duterte faction was endorsing the presidential bid of Sen. Bong Go, but the senator later withdrew his candidacy.听
President Duterte himself has not endorsed any presidential candidate yet 鈥 including his daughter鈥檚 running mate Marcos, whom he once tagged as 鈥渁 weak leader.鈥
