MANILA, Philippines 鈥� There is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following a 6.8-magnitude earthquake that hit the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand on Wednesday night, the 聽 (Phivolcs) said.
In its advisory, Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 8:52 p.m. on Wednesday at a depth of 34 kilometers.
鈥淣o destructive tsunami threat exists based on available data,鈥� it said.
鈥淭his is for information purposes only and there is no tsunami threat to the Philippines from this earthquake,鈥� Phivolcs added.
No action has to be undertaken in relation to the earthquake, Phivolcs said.
