As Vice President Leni Robredo barnstormed across Cavite province on Friday, its residents鈥攚ho share their roots with revolutionary compatriots who stood up against Spanish rule more than 100 years ago鈥攕ought to defy their governor鈥檚 wish to deliver 800,000 votes for Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Their fighting call was 鈥800k minus one鈥濃攅ach warm body in every whistle-stop across the second most vote-rich province in the country meant one less voter for the late dictator鈥檚 son.
Right now, Robredo is racing against both time and survey numbers to close the wide gap between herself and Marcos.
But in an interview at one of her whistle-stops in Dasmari帽as City, Robredo expressed confidence that she can deliver in the province once won over by Marcos in the 2016 vice presidential race by over 150,000 votes.
