Wife of Abu Sayyaf bomb maker held in Sulu
MANILA, Philippines — Military and police agents arrested over the weekend an alleged bomber and wife of Abu Sayyaf group explosives expert Mundi Sawadjaan in .
Operatives of the joint task force Sulu arrested on Saturday Nursitta Mahalli Malud, also known as Kirsita Ismael, 34, after a search of her home by virtue of a court-issued warrant in Zone 3, Brgy. Tulay in Jolo town, allegedly yielded explosives and bomb-making materials.
According to Joint Task Force Sulu commander Brig. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, the suspect is the second wife of Sawadjaan and had been “taking care of his finances and in-charge of procurement of improvised explosive device materials for the group of Sawadjaan.”
Patrimonio said that Malud’s arrest and the capture of Sawadjaan’s men had further weakened the Abu Sayyaf’s capability to carry out attacks.
