MANILA, Philippines – Presidential contender and Senator Manny Pacquiao vowed to implement his planned free housing program for Filipinos once he’s elected president in the May 9 national polls.

Pacquiao said this during the Commission on Election (Comelec’s) sanctioned debate on Saturday, explaining that he will include this housing project under the current administration’s “Build, Build, Build.”

“Pag tayo po ay nanalo, i-implement po natin ‘yan, ‘yan po ang ating magiging programa sa gobyerno na ang gusto ko dito sa ating bansa, walang pamilya na walang sariling tahanan,” said Pacquiao during the Commission on Elections (Comelec) sanctioned debate.

“Ngayong taon na ‘to, implement agad natin ‘yan,” he added.

Pacquiao, like the other aspirants (excluding former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. who did not attend the debate again), said that they will continue the current government’s “Build, Build, Build,” program, acknowledging it as a vital part of the country’s economic growth and infrastructure development.

Infrastructure development in Mindanao

Pacquiao also promised to boost the infrastructure development in Mindanao, explaining that the lack thereof is one of the root causes of the island’s problems.

“Alam niyo sa totoo lang, kaya po hindi mai-stopstop ‘yung kaguluhan sa Mindanao dahil napapabayaan po, wala pong development na nangyayari,” Pacquiao lamented.

(You know the truth, the reason why the unrest in Mindanao cannot be stopped is because it is neglected, there is no development happening.)

“Ang dapat nating gawin ay infrastructure development para umunlad ang Mindanao,” he added.

(What we must do is infrastructure development for Mindanao to prosper.)
