MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte on Friday.
Information from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology’s (Phivolcs) website posted past 11 a.m. showed that the earthquake struck at 9:35 a.m. some 60 kilometers northeast of General Luna town.
The earthquake had a depth of focus of 15 kilometers.
Intensity II was recorded in General Luna and Dapa towns, while Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Surigao City.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are expected from the quake.
