MANILA, Philippines 鈥� Angat Dam鈥檚 sliding water level is slowing down, a National Water Resources Board (NWRB) official said Monday, pointing to the positive effect of cloud seeding operations over the area.
According to NWRB Executive Director Sevillo David Jr., Angat Dam鈥檚 water level was at 190.75 meters on Monday morning.
鈥淜aninang umaga po ay nasa 190.75 meters po ang lebel po ng Angat Dam at masasabi natin na medyo mababa po 鈥榯o kung ikukumpara po natin sa mga naunang taon,鈥� David said in a Laging Handa public briefing.
(This morning, the water level of Angat Dam is at 190.75 meters and we can say that it is lower compared to previous years.)

鈥淧ero ito pong cloud seeding operations ay sa tingin po natin ay nagdudulot ng magandang resulta. Sa ngayon po, medyo mabagal po, bumagal po 鈥榶ung pagbaba ng lebel ng Angat Dam,鈥� he added.
(But, we think the cloud seeding operations are causing good results. As of now, the lowering of Angat Dam鈥檚 water level has slowed down.)

The minimum operating water level of Angat Dam, which supplies about 90 percent of the water requirement of Metro Manila and nearby provinces, is 180 meters.
Despite Angat Dam鈥檚 falling water level during the prevailing hot and dry season in the country, David said聽they are not seeing a water supply crisis.

鈥淪a tingin po naman natin ay hindi tayo magkakaroon [ng water supply crisis] at may mga paghahanda na po tayong ginagawa kasi nga po para po kung sakali po umabot 鈥榶ung patuloy na pagbaba ay may mga alternatibo po tayo na pagkukunan ng tubig,鈥� he said.
(We do not see a water supply crisis and we have preparations in case Angat Dam鈥檚 water level continues to decrease, we will have an alternative source.)
