PITX expects 110,000 passengers a day for Holy Week break

MANILA, Philippines — The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) expects to serve 100,000 to 110,000 passengers a day during the Holy Week break, an official of the terminal said Friday.

PITX Corporate and Government Relations head Jason Salvador said the terminal currently caters 91,000 passengers daily but this is seen to increase for Holy Week.

He said the increase in commuter volume is expected to start this Saturday until Maundy Thursday, April 14.

“We expect an increase of around 20% to 25% so siguro papalo tayo ng mga 100,000 to 110,000 everyday from Saturday towards Thursday,” he said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

Passenger volume is expected to drop on Good Friday, April 15, but will again pick up starting Easter Sunday, April 17, or until Monday, April 18. Salvador said many passengers will be returning to Metro Manila on these dates.

He however assures that the PITX management, as well as relevant government agencies, are ready for the influx of passengers.

“Handang handa naman tayo kasi ito naman talaga yung pinaghahandaan natin,” he said.

(We are ready because we have been preparing for this.)

Salvador urged passengers to strictly follow the protocols against the spread of COVID-19 like wearing masks, washing hands, and social distancing.

“Kung hindi natin maiiwasan bumyahe, let’s travel light para maiwasan natin ang inconvenience,” he said.

(If we can’t avoid traveling, let’s travel light so that we can avoid inconveniences.)
