MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reached the P4 billion mark for online payment collection for the initial registration of motor vehicles and motorcycles as of April, according to LTO National Capital Region West Regional Director Clarence Guinto.
The LTO earlier held an event in Quezon City on April 21 to celebrate this milestone.
Guinto said that the implementation of the LTO Payment Assessment Tool (PAT) and the Land Bank electronic Payment Portal System provides a fast and efficient payment alternative for LTO clients.
He noted that the online payment option also helps strengthen the integrity and accountability of LTO’s cash management system.
The LTO PAT was developed by Filipino information technology company Stradcom and was instrumental in introducing online payments at the LTO. Piloted in the LTO-NCR in 2018, it also aims to streamline the processes of new motor vehicle registration, reducing it from the usual seven to three days.
Stradcom spokesperson Lorie Bundoc, meanwhile, said the IT firm is committed to help the LTO in achieving its goal of expanding the services of LTO PAT to include more payment options, cover additional processes, and reach more clients.
The online payment initiative was in compliance with the Republic Act No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Services Delivery Act of 2018, which aims to reduce processing time in government transactions, cut bureaucratic red tape, and eliminate corruption, according to LTO.
