Catholic jail chaplains, volunteers endorse Robredo, Pangilinan – CBCP

Catholic prison ministry chaplains, workers and volunteers affiliated with the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Prison Pastoral Care (CBCP-ECPPC) endorsed the presidential candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and the vice presidential bid of Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

MANILA, Philippines — Catholic prison ministry chaplains, workers and volunteers affiliated with the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Prison Pastoral Care (CBCP-ECPPC) endorsed the presidential candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and the vice presidential bid of Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

According to them, the decision was made after “seriously considering their good character, personal integrity, track-record of service in the government, and commitment to uphold good governance and practices.”

The chaplains also said that the tandem has the ability to “enter and implement partnerships and programs for the advancement of the people especially the poor and marginalized.”

“We believe that they are the best possible choices among the other candidates,” they said in a statement on Monday.

Apart from the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem, the chaplains and workers also endorsed the senatorial candidacies of Sen. Leila de Lima, Chel Diokno, Teddy Baguilat, Sen. Risa Hontiveros, and former Sen. Antonio Trillanes.

“[They are] honorable people who we had the pleasure of working with in the past as regards human rights advocacy and similar endeavors. We can personally vouch for their integrity and capabilities,” they said.
