BAGUIO CITY鈥撯揤oters queued up as early as 5 a.m. on Monday, May 9, to select their leaders on election day in this Kalinga city, said John Martin, Tabuk鈥檚 election officer.

As of 7 a.m., the exercise was peaceful, and 鈥渁ll vote-counting machines have been running smoothly,鈥 he said.

Kalinga province, which has 154,423 registered voters, is an 8-hour commute from Baguio City. Its only city has 70,281 voters.

Classified under the least strict Alert Level No. 1, Kalinga had no active cases recorded as of May 8.
