LUCENA CITY鈥擰uezon province will have its first woman governor after Rep. Helen Tan (NPC) clobbered Gov. Danilo Suarez (Lakas), who sought re-election at the May 9 elections.
The partial result from 鈥淓leksyon 2022: The GMA 黑料社 and Public Affairs Coverage鈥� showed that Tan, a medical doctor, has 778,409 votes, while Suarez, a veteran politician, has 314,408 as of 8:02 a.m. Tuesday.
Tan鈥檚 running mate, former city councilor Anacleto Alcala III (NPC), also headed to victory with 655,205 votes over his nearest rival and Suarez tandem, Betty Nantes, who got 279,192 in the unofficial count.
Quezon has a voting population of 1,424,023.
Danilo鈥檚 wife, Aleta, also appeared to lose her re-election bid in the province鈥檚 third congressional district race to former Board Member Reynante Arogancia (NPC).
The partial result showed Arogancia, with 122,204 votes, while Aleta has only 76,094.
David Suarez, Danilo鈥檚 son, survived the clan鈥檚 election debacle, as he seems to deliver another blow to former Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala in the congressional race in the second district.
David posted 204,647 votes, while Alcala registered 170,622.
Helen鈥檚 son, Mike (NPC), looks to replace his mother鈥檚 seat in Congress. Mike, a lawyer, logged 166,355 votes, while his main rival, former board member Rhodora Tan (Lakas) listed 43,837.
Re-electionist Rep. Mark Enverga (NPC) from the 1st district looks to retain his post with 218,899 votes compared to his main rival Techie Dator (KBL), who received 30,933 votes.
The father-son tandem, Mayor Rhoderick Alcala and Mark, both PDP-Laban bets, are likewise headed to victory.
Mark, who is running to replace his father, listed 101,370 votes compared to his nearest contender, former board member Romano Talaga, who garnered 30,581 from the unofficial partial count.
Rhoderick, Proceso鈥檚 nephew and former city vice mayor, is headed back to his old post with 110,468 votes against his rival, former councilor Nilo Villapando (PRP), who got 36,212.
Lucena, the Quezon capital, has 183,412 voters.
