MANILA, Philippines 鈥� The Department of Education (DepEd) will be in 鈥済ood hands鈥� once presumptive Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio heads the agency, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said in a statement on Wednesday.
Briones said she welcomed the announcement of presumptive President Ferdinand 鈥淏ongbong鈥� Marcos Jr. that he would appoint Duterte-Carpio as DepEd secretary.
鈥淚 and the DepEd family are ready to work with her team for the orderly transition of DepEd leadership,鈥� Briones said.聽鈥淲e are confident that DepEd will be in able hands and anticipate a continuity.鈥�
According to Marcos, Duterte-Carpio has agreed to accept the post.
The presidential frontrunner earlier claimed that Duterte-Carpio would want to head the should they win the polls. Duterte-Carpio, however, said the decision would be up to the elected president.
