Kabacan court metes 30-year jail term for 2 minors in double murder case

KIDAPAWAN CITY—The Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Kabacan, Cotabato province has sentenced to more than 30 years in jail the two minors earlier charged with the murder of the 16-year old son and 18-year old daughter of a teaching couple in Mlang, Cotabato.

Judge Alexander Betoya of the RTC Branch 16 in Kabacan, Cotabato, sentenced to a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 32 years in jail the adopted daughter of public school teachers Louvella and Cruz Maguad for the murder of their own son Crizzule Louis, 16, and daughter Crizzle Gwynn, 18, in December last year.

But Louvella Maguad, who arrived with her husband at the town’s Hall of Justice around 1:20 p.m., hours before the decision on Tuesday, was still inconsolable. “What kind of girl are you? You are not human,” she screamed at her adopted daughter.

Before she confessed the crime, the 17-year old adopted daughter earlier posed as the lone survivor when she texted her adoptive father that she was hiding in a closet after three men reportedly barged into their house in Barangay Bagontapay, Mlang and attacked and killed Louis, 16 and Gwynn, 18.
