MANILA, Philippines — The southwestern parts of the country are expected to see overcast skies and scattered rain showers this weekend due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said on Friday afternoon.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed thick clouds moving from the south towards Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan province.

Some cloud clusters were also observed over other parts of Visayas and Mindanao, but a fair weather is anticipated for Luzon save for some isolated rain that may occur in the afternoon, according to Pagasa.

The state weather service likewise said the country will not see any weather disturbance in the next three to five days as they have not been seeing any low-pressure area or tropical cyclone on the horizon.

For Saturday, temperatures in Puerto Princesa and Legazpi would be lower than the rest of Luzon due to the rains – forecast at 26 to 31 degrees Celsius. Metro Manila, meanwhile, would have something around 25 to 33 degrees Celsius as Tuguegarao and Laoag cities would have 24 to 33 degrees Celsius and 25 to 32 degrees Celsius, respectively.
