Comelec shutting down automated election system servers, network infra on May 30

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission of Elections (Comelec) on Sunday announced the shut down of its automated election system (AES) servers and network infrastructure on May 30, three weeks after the national elections.
The shutdown of AES servers and network infrastructure will be conducted in the presence of political parties and citizens’ arm groups.
The activity will be held in the following data centers:
-Central Data Center – PLDT Vitro Taguig
-Central Data Center – PLDT Vitro Parañaque
-Backup Data Center – Data One (Quezon City)
While the military and police deemed the elections as “generally peaceful,” international observers noted that it fell short of free and fair election standards.
The Comelec has disputed the international observers’ claims, and said only vote buying issues remain unresolved.
The May 9 elections paved the way for the victory of president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and vice president-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.
