E-sabong probe findings reach Senate plenary

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Ronald “Bato”dela Rosa on Tuesday reported to the Senate plenary the findings of his committee’s probe into e-sabong operations and the disappearance of over 30 individuals linked to online sabong.

Dela Rosa endorsed for plenary adoption Committee Report No. 646, which states the findings and recommendations of the Senate public order committee.

In reporting his committee investigation’s findings, Dela Rosa cited the social cost of e-sabong, which was suspended by President Rodrigo Duterte earlier this month.

The committee recommended that authorities continue to further investigate an e-sabong firm that owns the cockpit arena where some of the missing “sabungeros” were last seen.

The Senate panel, in its report, also recommended to the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation the continued investigation of “all reported cases of missing persons in relation to e-sabong activities until they are finally resolved.”
