PH records 219 new COVID-19 cases, active infections at 2,479

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 219 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 2,479.

Based on the latest data in the, the new infections also raised the country’s total caseload to 3,691,546 with 3,628,611 recoveries and 60,456 deaths.

Meanwhile, the new infections are higher than the average number of cases recorded from May 23 to 29 at 188 infections, based on the DOH’s weekly COVID-19 data. The next weekly data is set to be released on June 6, Monday.

Infections have been slightly increasing in the past few weeks, after experts previously said COVID-19 cases may surge by May triggered by lax compliance to health standards.
