Explosion rocks Basilan city hall, no one reported hurt
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines — A loud explosion occurred at the right portion of the perimeter wall of the Lamitan City Hall in Barangay Maganda, around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, June 20.
Brig. Gen. Domingo Gobway, commander of the Joint Task Force Basilan, said no casualty was reported except for some minor damage to nearby water supply pipes.
“Police personnel of Lamitan City together with our troops from the 18th Infantry Battalion are now at the explosion site, cordoning the area for blast site investigation,” Gobway said.
The city government was preparing for the oathtaking of newly elected officials on June 30 when the blast happened
On May 30 in Isabela City, a blast occurred at the back of a fast-food chain and another one inside the garage of D Biel Transport firm. Two persons were wounded.
