Pagasa: TD Caloy exits PAR, continues to enhance ‘habagat’ in parts of Luzon, Visayas
MANILA, Philippines — A rainy Thursday is expected in parts of Luzon and the Visayas as Tropical Depression Caloy continues to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” even after exiting the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said.
In its early morning weather update, the said “Caloy” was last spotted some 565 kilometers west of Central Luzon.
It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph), a gustiness of up to 70 kph and is moving west southwest at 40 kph, according to Pagasa.
Pagasa is also monitoring a low pressure area (LPA), which is expected to develop into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours. It is located 1,020 km east of Northern Luzon.
The LPA will be named “Domeng” if it develops into a tropical depression—the country’s fourth one in 2022, Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.
