MRT-3 vows to address new DOTr chief’s recommendations to improve service
MANILA, Philippines — Management of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has promised to improve its services after newly-installed Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista identified areas for improvement.
Bautista made a surprise visit to the MRT-3 on Monday and rode the train in disguise to “experience first-hand the services of the rail line and interact with commuters.”
In a message on Wednesday, the MRT-3 shared to ºÚÁÏÉç the observations of the new transport chief during his inspection:
- Clean restrooms with ample water supply
- Need to add platform waiting seats for senior citizens, persons with disability, and pregnant women
- Accessibility of Consumer Welfare Desks to all passengers
- Additional X-ray machines
- Need for full ticket counter complement
- Availability of Emergency Medical Technicians at all stations
- Promote stored value tickets (Beep card) instead of single journey tickets to reduce lines
- Enhancements in onboard announcements
“We thank our good Secretary for his feedback and recognition of the improved services of the MRT-3 following his surprise visit,” the MRT-3 management said in a statement.
“At the same time, we assure him that the MRT-3 will continuously work on the areas for improvement that he has identified to better serve the needs of all our passengers,” it added.
