Hontiveros: Sign into law anti-online sexual abuse of children bill
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Risa Hontiveros on Thursday urged the executive branch to sign into law now the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) bill.
Hontiveros noted the urgent need for the signing of the measure as she shared screenshots of social media users sharing tips on how to persuade a minor into having a sexual activity.
Based on the screenshots, a YouTube account named Usapang Diskarte uploaded videos advising his viewers on how exploit children.
“These horrifying photos tell us what we already knew: that an Anti-Online Sexual Abuse & Exploitation of Children law is absolutely and urgently needed,” Hontiveros, then chair of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality, lamented on social media site Twitter.

I call on the executive to sign the Anti-OSAEC law now. Our children need the full power & protection of this measure.

Hontiveros filed Senate Bill No. 2068 or the proposed Anti-OSAEC law in the 18th Congress.
The bill was only a step closer to becoming a law as it only needed the signature of then President Rodrigo Duterte.
