MANILA, Philippines 鈥 A minor landslide destroyed a variety store on Cuasay Road in Barangay Central Signal in Taguig and prompted the evacuation of some residents on Tuesday afternoon,聽according to the city鈥檚 .
The landslide occurred at around 2 p.m.
鈥淔ortunately, no one was seriously injured or killed in the incident,鈥 the PIO said in Filipino.
The city immediately deployed its quick response team, engineers, and social workers to assess the damage and ensure the safety of the people in the area.
The area was declared a 鈥渄anger zone鈥 and was closed to the public.
鈥淎ccelerated soil erosion due to excavations done by some residents in the area and accumulated water caused by rainfall are considered to be the cause of the landslide,鈥 the PIO said.
City hall reminded residents to conduct a routine check for damage to their homes or workplaces, especially this rainy season, and comply with obtaining a building permit before constructing or repairing houses and other buildings.
