DOH posts 2,074 new COVID infections; active cases at 20,678
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday recorded 2,074 new infections of COVID-19, slightly raising the number of active cases to 20,678.
Based on the on its website, the country’s total caseload is now at 3,739,160 nationwide, with 3,657,841 recoveries and 60,641 deaths.
The new tallied cases, however, were higher than the number of infections recorded on Tuesday, which was at 1,841, but was still slightly lower than the average daily cases recorded from July 11 to 17 at 2,091.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila continued to lead with the highest number of infections per region in the last two weeks with 10,393 cases, as shown in the tracker, followed by Calabarzon with 5,973, and Central Luzon with 2,634.
On the other hand, Quezon City topped the list of areas with the most reported cases in the last two weeks at 2,121, followed by Cavite at 2,067 and Laguna with 1,431.
Article continues after this advertisementThe tracker also showed that 23,573 individuals were recorded to have been tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday, July 19. The results of these will be reflected in Thursday’s tallied numbers.
