TUGUEGARAO CITY– Police and anti-drug enforcement agents uprooted and burned P5-million worth of marijuana plants in two plantations in the mountains in Tinglayan town in Kalinga province on Friday, July 22, a belated police report said on Sunday, July 24.

Police Major Garry Gayamos, Kalinga police spokesperson, said in a phone interview on Sunday that the Kalinga police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives launched the Oplan Man-Gabut following information from tipsters about the marijuana plants.

Operatives found the 1,500-hectare plantation worth P3 million and another area with the same hectare worth P2 million.

The plants were uprooted and burned except for some gathered for submission to the laboratory.

However, no cultivators were arrested, Gayamos added.

It was not clear in police reports if the land was privately owned.
