LIGAO CITY鈥擜lbay third district Representative Fernando Cabredo has filed a proposed law to establish an information system to help villages in decision-making.

House Bill No. 150, also known as 鈥淎n Act Mandating the Establishment of Barangay Management Information System (BaMIS) and for other Purposes,鈥 aims to establish a centralized system to serve as a repository of information for every village, particularly regarding residents, households, families, areas, businesses, transactions, budget and expenses, cases or blotters, activities and projects, evacuation and health centers, donors and volunteers, and scholarships, among others.

鈥淭he BaMIS will be most useful in analysis and decision making at the barangay level as leaders will be able to forecast and assess the needs of their constituents based on the collated information. In addition, retrieval of comprehensive data will be quicker, timely, and accurate through cloud technology,鈥 Cabredo told the Inquirer on Tuesday, August 16, in a text message.

Cabredo said through BaMIS, the barangay officials and residents could easily access the information to be uploaded to the cloud database system online.

Cabredo, who worked as a software developer in foreign companies in the past years, strongly recommended that going digital and adopting the latest trends in technology 鈥渟hall significantly help in public service and good governance.鈥

The House Committee on Rules has referred the bill to the Committee on Information and Communications Technology and the Committee on Local Government.
