Motorcyclist dead in Batangas City road crash

LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider died after his vehicle hit a truck in Batangas City early Thursday, Sept. 22.

The Batangas police reported that Daniel Jose Chua, 26, was driving his motorcycle around 2:30 a.m. when his vehicle hit the left front side of the truck driven by Felixberto Almarez at a road intersection in Barangay Balagtas.

The motorbike rider suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot.

The report did not state whether or not Chua was wearing a crash helmet for protection.

Wearing crash helmets for all riders of two-wheeled motorized vehicles is mandated under the “Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.”

Almarez is under police custody as further investigation is ongoing.
