MANILA, Philippines 鈥 Eleven people with disability (PWD) couples tied the knot in a 鈥楰asalang Bayan鈥 (mass wedding) officiated by Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano at Lakeshore Hall, Barangay Lower Bicutan on Wednesday.
According to Cayetano, the mass wedding is a way to assure 鈥淭aguigue帽o PWDs that they can enjoy the same rights as everybody else, including the right to establish a happy family and a loving home, and so much more.鈥
It specifically aims to provide Taguigue帽o couples, at least one of whom is a PWD, an opportunity to tie the knot.
The mass wedding program was sponsored by Taguig LGU and organized by the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office in coordination with the Civil Registry Office.
The local government provided the couples the rings, wine, cake, and venue.
Aside from the wedding, the Taguig LGU gives other privileges to PWDs, such as monthly allowances, dental assistance, and livelihood training.聽鈥 Christian Paul Dela Cruz, trainee
