Parts of Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Aurora under Signal No. 5 due to Karding

MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of the areas of Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, and Quezon province are now under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5 as Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru) makes its way through the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 2 p.m. update.

Pagasa said the following areas are under TCWS No. 5: Polillo Islands, the extreme northern portion of Quezon (the northern and central portions of General Nakar, the northeastern portion of Infanta), the extreme southern portion of Aurora (Dingalan), the eastern portion of Bulacan (Doña Remedios Trinidad, Norzagaray), and the extreme southeastern portion of Nueva Ecija (the southeastern portion of General Tinio).

The said areas will experience “a very intense typhoon” with strong winds of more than 185 kilometers per hour (kph) may be expected in at least 12 hours.

Pagasa also hoisted Signal No. 4 in the northern portion of Metro Manila (Marikina, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, and Quezon City), while the rest of Metro Manila is under Signal No. 3, according to the bureau’s 2 p.m. update.

Karding was spotted before noon some 115  kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon or 76 kilometers east of Polillo Islands, packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center with gustiness of up to 240 kph.
