BACOLOD CITY — In preparation for the MassKara Festival in October, Negros Occidental and Bacolod City have made a joint protocol against COVID-19 at the airport.

Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, provincial health officer, last week said the city government had sent medical technologists to assist provincial government personnel in inspecting passengers arriving at the Bacolod Silay Airport.

Tumimbang said those who tested positive for COVID-19 would be held and required to undergo quarantine for 14 days.

The provincial government, he said, was also making adjustments to assist city personnel at seaports in Bacolod.

City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez had encouraged people to make their bookings early so they could witness the highly anticipated MassKara Festival, which is set from October 21 to October 23 with the theme “Balik Yuhum (Bring back the smiles).”

“I hope you make your bookings early because I heard that our rooms are already running out. Please do it early. You will not regret it. The MassKara 2022 will be one of the best ever,” he said.
