ITCZ to bring rain over Visayas, Mindanao — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Scattered rain is forecast over Mindanao and the Visayas due to the i while fair weather is expected over Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Sunday.

“Sa Mindanao asahan ang kalat kalat na pagulan at thunderstorms dahil sa ITCZ, pinagiingat sa pagbaha ang malalapit sa ilog at possible din po ang landslides sa mga bulubundukin  na lugar,” said Benison Estareja.

(In Mindanao, expect scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ, the areas near the river are being warned against flooding and landslides are also possible in the mountainous areas.)

“Sa Visayas mataas na rin po ang tiyansa ng localized thunderstorms umaga pa lamang dahil sa ITCZ,” he added.

(In the Visayas, there is a high chance of localized thunderstorms in the morning due to the ITCZ.)

Meanwhile, fairer weather conditions are forecast over the entire Luzon but slightly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected, including in Metro Manila.

A low pressure area is also being monitored right outside the Philippine area of responsibility 1,460 kilometers east of Mindanao.

“Sa susunod na 36 hours o maaring bukas ng umaga,ay papasok ito ng ating area of responsibility as a low pressure area,” said Estareja.

(In the next 36 hours or maybe tomorrow morning, it will enter our area of responsibility as a low pressure area.)

He added that the LPA has high chances of turning into a storm (and will be named “Paeng”) as it traverses the Pacific ocean.

The state weather service said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Sunday will be:

Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 17 to 25 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  24 to 30 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 23 to 33 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
